Why Capacity Building Is the Advisory Work That Outlasts Us
05 Sep 2026
Advisory work has a natural expiry date: a mandate ends, a report is delivered, a consultant moves to the next engagement. What determines whether that work has lasting value is whether the people who inherit the project can carry it forward without the advisor still at the table.
Capacity building as the last mile of every mandate
Workshops and institutional strengthening for public and private stakeholders are not an add-on to feasibility, transport or PPP work. They are the mechanism that converts a delivered study into an institutionally-held skill. A ministry team that understands how a feasibility model was built is better placed to update it than one that only received the finished document.
This is also why we treat capacity building as one integrated mandate alongside our other service lines rather than a separate offering: the same advisor staying at the table from first study through to institutional handover is what keeps recommendations from sitting unused on a shelf.
