This policy explains what personal data Murchison Odyssey Limited ("we", "us") collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It is written to reflect how this website actually works, not generic boilerplate — if anything here stops matching reality after a future change, update this page to match.

Murchison Odyssey Limited is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We are registered at Zebra Plaza, Plot 23, Nakasero Hill, Nakasero II, Kampala Central Division, Kampala, Uganda, P.O. Box 214667, Kampala GPO. When you submit our contact form, we collect what you enter into it: full name, email address, and message, along with organization, phone number and enquiry subject if you provide them. We do not require you to create an account or provide any data beyond what a form on this site explicitly asks for.

We also automatically record, against each form submission and each cookie-consent choice, your browser's user agent and a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address — not your raw IP address itself. This hashed value cannot practically be reversed back into your actual IP, and exists only to help us detect spam and abusive submissions, and to demonstrate what a visitor consented to if that is ever questioned.

We process contact form data to respond to your enquiry — this is necessary for the pre-contractual steps you initiate by contacting us. We process the hashed IP address and user agent under our legitimate interest in keeping this website secure and free of spam. Where you make a cookie preference choice, we process that choice on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see Cookie Policy).

This site uses cookies and similar local storage. What each category does, and how to change your preference, is covered in full in our Cookie Policy page.

We retain contact form submissions for as long as reasonably needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and no longer than 24 months unless a longer period is required to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, or you ask us to delete it sooner. Cookie-consent records are kept for 12 months, after which your browser will be asked to confirm your preference again.

We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone. Form submissions are visible only to authorized Murchison Odyssey staff through this website's administration dashboard, and to our website hosting provider as a data processor storing that dashboard's database. We do not currently use any third-party analytics or advertising service on this site — if that changes, this policy and the cookie banner will be updated before any such service goes live.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to ask us what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given us at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office (National Information Technology Authority – Uganda), or, if you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, with your local data protection supervisory authority.

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we hold, including encrypted administrator credentials and IP-address hashing rather than raw storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

This website is directed at business, government and institutional visitors. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy as this website or our data practices change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
